What Does Healthy Look Like to You?

I'd like to start a new series today based on personal health.  I plan on talking about lifestyle choices, relationships, exercise, work life, food, nutrition and happiness.  I'll be posting this series every other Tuesday to beak up Travel Tuesday, I hope you enjoy!

What does healthy look like to you?  
I would like to think that I am a pretty healthy person, I have my ups and downs but I strive for balance.  For me health is based on balance.  I've had moments in my life when I was not so healthy and others when I've been almost too healthy.  Too healthy?  Yes.  I believe you have to treat yourself, you have to let go every once and a while, have that glass of wine (or two) an french fries.


Eating healthy is obviously a very important part of personal health and is is widely discussed topic.  I am not an expert on eating healthy and do not have all the answers but I try my best to stay informed on the topic.  With all the diets and fads out there it is easy to get confused on what might be best for your body.  I know a lot of people who are on the paleo diet and a couple vegans.  I even tried being vegan for a year but it just was not for me.  

Personally I find it is very important to know what you are putting in your body.  Reading labels and understanding labels is a must for me.  In my next health post I will get further into detail about food labels and what the ingredients actually mean.  Some ingredients are horrible chemicals and some ingredients are just long words for something that derives naturally.  I also plan on sharing my diet and eating habits with you in the near future as I am very conscious about what I put in my body and how much of certain things I put in my body.


One very important thing I do every morning is I drink a large glass to room temperature lemon water.  I squeeze half a lemon into a 10 or 12 ounce glass at bedtime and put it on my bedside table.  I reach for it first thing in the morning and chug it down.


Drinking lemon water has a very long list of health benefits including; promotes hydration,  a good dose of vitamin C, improves skin condition, weight loss, bloat loss, aids in digestion and more.  This article explains in more detail the benefits of lemon water.  I find that when I drink a glass of lemon water first thing every morning it is easier for me to continue drinking water throughout the day.  Always drinking the eight glasses of water a day.  Lemon water in the morning and eight glasses of water during the day has done wonders for my energy levels and for my skin.  

Has anyone else started drinking lemon water every day?   Do you like it?  Some people even say if you don't like the citrus of the lemon, just drinking a glass of water first thing (before anything else) in the morning is extremely beneficial to your health.
