Wedding Wednesday - What To Register For

by - September 06, 2017

I'm not sure if I mentioned it in my any of my previous wedding post, but my husband and I didn't have a wedding registry.  We had a small wedding, less than twenty people and it felt strange to put together a list for a handful of people to buy us things from.  If we had had a large wedding I would have definitely registered though.  Not registering can leave you with a lot of unwanted gifts.  My best friend received a bunch of strange looking picture frames from one of her wedding guests.  She said she had to throw them away because they were to strange and not returnable.  Also registering for gifts ensures that you get practical gifts that you want and like.  Today I've put together a list of things that I would have registered for if we had had a large wedding.  Practical things that I've learned that I want through home ownership and after getting married.

Nespresso Citiz & Milk Espresso Maker - Black $225
If you are like me and enjoy a latte or cappuccino this is a great item to register for that would get a lot of use.  The milk frothing component is my favorite part, steamed milk at home, yes please!

White dinnerware is so versatile to use for a setting a table and this set from Crate and Barrel is strong and durable.  It gets great reviews and is a great price.  I think this is a better item than adding specialty china to a registery.

My sister-in-law got us one of these for our wedding gift and I'm obsessed with it and use it almost every other night to cook.  I like the large sized dutch ovens as well but find that this size is much more manageable to everyday meals.

Cuisinart Advantage 6-Piece Triple Rivet Walnut Steak Knife Set $17
I'm pretty sure I have mentioned this before but Cuisinart knives are favorite.  Not that I am some knife know it all but my experience has been great with Cuisinart knives, they stay sharp forever and have a great price point.

Matte White Ceramic Pumpkin Casserole Baker $20

Pumpkin Ceramic Pie Dish $30

These pumpkin shaped dishes are wonderful during holiday season and although you get seasonal use out of them they are different and maybe not something you would buy for yourself.  I like gifts that have to do with hosting and gifts that as newly weds you probably don't already have.

A good vacuum is an invest in my opinion.  I like the size and power behind the Dyson's and they are very small-female friendly.  Unlike large vacuums that I have lugged up and down our stairs in the past.

Belgian Flax Linen Quilt + Shams $49 - $299
What I have learned from sharing a bed with my husband is that we sleep at two different temperatures.  I am always cold and he is always hot, so using a down or down alternative duvet cover is out of the question.  The perfect solution has been a quilt because it's light for him but still heavy enough for me.  West Elm and Overstock both have a lot of nice quilts, I especially like this linen one.

Ella Adjustable Door Wreath Hanger $40
This I love because it can be monogrammed with your married initials or married name.  This to me is a class act gift, it's special sentimental and extremely useful.

Of course this is just a small list and I could go on forever but I think that these items would be my most used gift which I think is the point of a wedding registry.  I know a lot of couple that registered for gift cards or a donation to honeymoon fund which I think is genius.  Also a wine or beer subscription or even chocolate subscription is a good idea too.  Thank you for stopping by and reading, have a lovely day!

P.S. I'd love to hear from you guys... what did you or will you register for?
Do you regret registering for something?
