Travel Tuesday - Tannersville, New York

Happy Travel Tuesday friends!
Today' post is the follow up to last Tuesday's post, about my recent trip to Catskill mountains.  A brief recap, K, Bella and I stayed at The Mountain Brook Hotel in Tannersville, New York and hiked the Kaaterskill Waterfalls for a long weekend to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary.  The hotel is walking distance, less that city block walk, to the small, cute town of Tannersville.  The town is basically one long street (about three city blocks long) filled with antique shops, a general store, restaurants, bars and other small stores, including a vintage store.

On Friday night we ordered take out burgers from The Last Chance, we split the All In burger and the Bison Cheddar burger, they were delicious.  Since we brought Bella we wanted to stay with her the first night to make sure she wasn't frightened.  Also, we were tired and wanted to enjoy the room's fireplace with a special bottle of red wine left over from our wedding.

After our long hike on Saturday we freshened up a bit in the room and then headed into Tannersville to explore.  Of course it started raining just as we hit the street, we ducked inside The Last Chance and grabbed a cocktail and pulled pork nachos as the storm passed.  The restaurant is ecletic, it carries over 300 bottles beers, has a bar that in made out of bottle caps and a little shop area with chocolates and tons of candy.  After we headed to Twin Peaks Coffee Shop where they make donuts fresh to order and have a small antique shop attached.  We grabbed two coffee's, no donuts, sorry to disappoint I was so full and wandered into the rest of the shops in Tannersville.  I bought my mom a little Christmas bell at one antique shop and a Kaaterskill Falls coffee mug for myself.  I held back from buying jams and maple syrups in every flavor for everyone in my family, but did by myself a candle at Ecolite.  On the way back to the hotel K and I split a frozen custard from Mama's Boy Burgers and then I busted open my pants, just kidding, I was so full though.

Our intent was to have dinner later that evening at The Deer Mountain Inn.  We were relaxing on our porch of the hotel when Laura (the girl who checked us in) brought us a bottle of Prosecco and a large cheese plate... holy surprise!  My parents sent it to us, which was too sweet.  It was later than planned when we started to head out for dinner so I called the Deer Mountain Inn to see what time the kitchen was open until, they don't take reservations, it's first come first serve and driving distance from our hotel.  And... they were closed for wedding!  Ha!  What a great place to have a wedding though.  Off we went walking to Tannserville, where almost everything was closed except The Last Chance.  Sometime that's just how things happen, but I was too happy to even care, it was an amazing weekend full of love.
