Summer Essentials

by - May 13, 2018

Truth be told when we shot this look it was 56 degrees (F) out!  I know, not summer temperatures at all.  But in the last two weeks we have hit temps of 85 degrees and above regularly so I have been trying to get my wardrobe summer ready.  When I think of the quintessential summer look I think of this look (gingham, espadrilles and a straw bag) or denim cut offs, a white tee and slides (coming soon).  The gingham look is definitely more stylish and more put together, but still comfortable enough to wear on those sweltering hot summer days.  My dress is a little boxy and hits me just above the knee, a lady like length.  It is also made of a linen-like fabric giving it natural wrinkles and movement, which I like.

The espadrilles were a gift from K.  He said he was going to get groceries and came back with shoes.  I should have known but I was working, distracted and at the time I didn't remember that I had just gotten a healthy amount of groceries on Wednesday.  Or maybe it was selective memory.  K knew I was lusting after a new pair of espadrilles for the summer and I am so happy he picked this pair.  I wanted a pair that was going to look great for blog photos and Instagram posts but that I could also use daily for errands and doggie walks.  I love the look of the platform espadrilles but really would not get the use out of them.  The espadrilles K bought me are so comfortable, I could not be happier, I could walk mile in them and no braking in blisters.  My straw bag is a recent purchase from Amazon that I have been wearing non-stop since it arrived.  It's fully lined and has a cross body strap which I tucked in the pouch for this shoot.  These are my favorite, affordable versions of summer essentials.  Below I've linked my specific outfit details and some other gingham dresses I am lusting after.
Happy Monday!
