My Favorite Purchases of 2018

by - December 19, 2018

With the end of the year very quickly approaching it has got me thinking about all the great things that happened in 2018.  My bother getting engaged was one of the biggest moments for my family this year and my sister in law gave birth to the happiest little baby boy.  For me, 2018 was great.  It was simple year full of highs and lows that really felt balanced.  Most of all it has been a happy year for me.  Some of that happiness came from shopping, ha!  It's true though, I do love to shop and I get a real sense of satisfaction from buying things that make our lives easier or add something to our lives.  This year I made some great purchases and sharing them all here with you today.  I hope you enjoy!

Bella absolutely LOVES this bed.  When we took it out of the packaging she got into instantly and knew it was for her.  When I work at our kitchen table I have to bring her bed downstairs (it usually lives in my office) because she prefers it over our couch.  It's incredibly soft and fluffy and I suggest it to any pet parent.

Discovering facial oil has made such a huge impact for my skin.  It's healthier and so smooth.  I've tried several facial oils but this one is my favorite, probably because of the retinol in it.

This lens is a steal if you have a camera it is compatible with.  It adds aperture to photos that rivals lens' three times as expensive.  It's the only lens I use to shoot my photos anymore and I wish I had bought it before our trip to Paris this year because I can only imagine what it could have done with that scenery.  I guess we will just have to go back soon!

I just bought this silverware and I already love it.  I love the contrasting black on our plates and napkins.  I already put them through the dishwasher a couple times and they come out looking even better than my old silver silverware.  I 6 of these 5 pieces sets thinking I'd use them to host Christmas Eve dinner but now I plan on buying 4 more and making this our everyday set.

I've mentioned before that I can not live without my brow pencil.  I've tried many brow pencils but found that the one that worked best this one, which costs $20.  Because I use a brow pencil everyday I go through them very quickly and decided to try the NYX Micro Brow Pencil since it looks similar but is half the price and it works the same!  I could not believe it because it is so inexpensive and because I've tried so many that just did not work.  But I now only buy the NYX Micro Brow Pencil and I buy three at a time so I never run out.

K and I are trying to cut plastic use out of our lives (you can read about the plastic safety controversy here).  For food storage this was a must for us.  Not only do I not want the harmful chemicals from plastic in my house but the plastic containers get gross after a couple uses and forget about storing spaghetti sauce.  This set of glass food storage containers comes with the perfect mixture of sizes and has worked great for K and I.  If we were a family of four I might have ordered two sets.

Yes, this bag only cost $8!  I've gotten so many compliments on it, it's kind of crazy.  It's definitely does not feel expensive and can not rival any of my nice bags but it's a basic bag with plenty of space for junk and looks cute.  I wore it all over London because it fit our camera.

I could wear these everyday.  They make my legs look a lot thinner and longer than they are and have the perfect high waist for tucking in fitted tops or oversized sweaters.  They rival more expensive, high waisted jeans and for $70 they area steal.

Our home is one of those that seems to have to separate zones without two separate thermostats.  In the winter the upstairs gets so warm while downstairs it can seem ten degrees colder.  It's very frustrating, but this thermostat has helped control when the heat needs to be on so that both zones are warm when they need to be.  So far it has made a big dent in lowering our heating bill. gotta love that!

I could go on and on about this lip sleeping mask but won't, because I already did.  Read about it here.

These pillows are hotel quality!  They are the best pillows I have ever owned.  For K and I they are the right amount of form and plush and have made a huge difference in our sleeping comfort.  We both sleep differently, I'm a back sleeper and he is a side sleeper and we both find them extremely comfortable and a steal for $36!

K is not big into shoes but decided to up his shoe game for our recent trip to Europe and bought these.  They look great with nice pants and jeans and he was able to walk miles in them.  Personally I love the way they look on him, so chic but still casual.

We bought this luggage for our trip to Europe this year and I can not say enough good things about this luggage.  It's durable, light weight and can fit so much stuff.  Plus it expands.  It also was the only marble luggage in our conveyor belt so it was easy to spot and pick up.

I've lusted after this planter from West Elm for a couple years.  I've seen it on design websites and just love the look but could not pull the trigger on buying it because I'm cheap.  Luckily, one day I walked into Target and found this Wood & Stoneware Indoor Planter for a fraction of the price.  I swear I just saw it in store the other day and apologize that it is sold out online but there are three similar planters; herehere and here.

Thank you for stopping by!
