Sexy Margaritas

by - January 22, 2019

Today I'm sharing a fun cocktail recipe that K and I mixed up this past Monday.  We thought it would be the perfect cocktail for Valentine's Day.  It's red and has a little kick to spice up a love filled evening.  The recipe is simple and can easily be doubled or tripled depending
on how many margaritas you'd like to make.  Since we made and tested this recipe on Monday I can attest to the fact that it doesn't need to be Valentine's Day to enjoy this Sexy Margarita.  K and I sipped these cocktails and had fun pretending we were sitting on a beach,
soaking up the sun.  Instead of cuddled up, under a fluffy blanket,
stealing each other's heat because it's 30 degrees here.

Silver Tequila
Triple Sec or Cointreau
1 quart of strawberries
1 jalapeño
1 cup of water
1 cup of sugar
A squeeze of lime

The simple syrup needs to be made ahead of time and chilled before using.  I chilled my simple syrup in the fridge for a little over an hour.  To make the simple syrup slice the strawberries and add them to a saucepan with one cup of water and one cup of sugar.  Depending on how spicy you like things will determine how many slices of jalapeños you will add to this mixture.  I added two slices, I have an average spice tolerance.  If I was making this for my parents I might only add a half of slice of a jalapeño.  They do not enjoy spicy.  One to three slices seems ideal to me.  Once the jalapeños are added to the strawberry, sugar, water mixture, bring it to a boil.  When it reaches a boil, the heat can be lowered and it can simmer for a half hour
and then moved into the fridge to chill.

It's time to shake and drink!  To make two margaritas add 2 ounces of Tequila, 2 ounces of strawberry, jalapeño simple syrup, 1 ounce of Triple Sec (or Cointreau) and a squeeze of lime to an ice filled shaker and shake hard.  The ice should almost be all melted after a hard shake.  Pour the Sexy Margarita over two rocks glasses filled with ice (maybe garnish with salt, I don't like salt) and enjoy!  The strawberry, jalapeño simple syrup made 4 Sexy Margaritas.  Doubling the water, sugar, strawberries and jalapeños will make 8 Sexy Margaritas.
